Getting kids off their devices and into motion is one of the biggest parenting challenges of today, and the fitness industry is increasingly moving to meet it.
Hyrox is the latest to make its move, bringing its youth race series, Youngstars, to the U.S. on Sept. 19-20, marking its first stop on American soil with a second date to follow in Anaheim, California, in December.
Youngstars debuted in spring 2024 in London, but its U.S. push comes as Hyrox is firing on all cylinders, with rising participation numbers among adults and its sights set on Olympic inclusion by 2032.
The timing also speaks to a more nuanced challenge in youth sports: keeping older kids engaged. While overall participation is up, the Aspen Institute’s State of Play 2025 report found that regular sports participation among teenagers 13-17 actually dropped 3% in 2024.
Youngstars mirrors the traditional Hyrox format, with workouts adapted by age group. The competition spans ages 8 to 15 and features SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jump, rowing, farmers carry, lunges and wall balls. Spectator viewing is available at each station.
Fitness operators can register to become an official Youngstars Training Facility through the brand’s website.
