A new Brooklyn brand is launching science-based fitness programs designed around women’s hormonal health, targeting a market the founders say has been overlooked
There’s an old saying: if you want something done, ask a woman. BAB NYC’s founders took that advice literally, launching Brooklyn’s first fitness studio centered on women’s hormonal health and their unique physiological needs.
The new studio officially opened earlier this month at premium boutique fitness brand GYM NYC’s Brooklyn flagship, introducing what the company calls the fitness industry’s first comprehensive training methodology designed around women’s hormonal health.
“Our vision is to redefine women’s wellness by designing training that honors, not ignores, the body’s natural rhythms,” BAB NYC co-founder Vickiana Arias-Peña said.
The methodology addresses areas often neglected in mainstream training, including the reproductive system and pelvic floor. Phase-based workouts align with hormonal rhythms and tackle issues like pelvic floor dysfunction and incontinence prevention.

“This isn’t just about workouts; it’s about teaching women how to move through every stage of life with strength and confidence,” BAB NYC co-founder Paola Reyes said.
According to the brand, trainers at BAB NYC are educated to recognize signs of hormonal changes and adjust workout intensity, recovery periods and movement patterns accordingly to reduce injury risk and deliver sustainable results.
The studio offers an extensive class menu ranging from core offerings like BAB Cardio Dance and BAB Bands (Barre + Resistance Bands) to specialized classes including BAB Prenatal for expecting mothers and BAB senior 50+ combining somatic dance, Pilates and sculpt. Other classes include BAB Booty Burn for glute workouts, BAB Sculpt for full-body barre strength and BAB floor barre, which fuses pelvic floor training, Pilates mat and ballet floor barre.
To scale its methodology, BAB NYC is launching a Coach Certification Program that trains fitness professionals in its approach. The nine-module curriculum covers topics including the endocrine system and hormonal health, menstrual cycle phases and pelvic floor biomechanics. Health specialists, including endocrinologist Diana Molina and physiotherapists Catalina Palomares and Irwin Gómez ensure science-based instruction.
The Brooklyn opening marks the beginning of BAB NYC’s expansion plans. A second studio is planned at GYM NYC Lexington in Manhattan’s Murray Hill, with longer-term international expansion goals.
“We’re proud to partner with BAB NYC to bring this groundbreaking methodology to life,” GYM NYC spokesperson Julio Ramos said. “This partnership aligns perfectly with our mission to provide transformative, community-focused fitness experiences.”
Other future offerings include retreats, online studios and children’s programs.
BAB NYC’s launch comes as 2025 shapes up to be the year of women’s health, as major brands across fitness, telehealth, nutrition and wearables are recognizing the power of female-focused wellness services programming.
Club Pilates and Pure Barre recently partnered with telehealth clinic Midi Health to launch “Strong Through Every Stage,” which will bring hormone health workshops to select studios. Equinox Hotels teamed up with actress Naomi Watts’ Stripes Beauty for menopause-focused spa treatments, while Canyon Ranch added midlife retreats to its offerings.
