Will Wade is set to coach McNeese State in the NCAA Tournament, but he is reportedly meeting with N.C. State for a second time about their head coaching opening.

Multiple reports indicate Wade is set for a second meeting with N.C. State, which this week fired former coach Kevin Keatts after he led the school to the Final Four a year ago.

Wade and Tennessee associate head coach and former Wolfpack guard Justin Gainey are reportedly the top two names in the mix at N.C. State, and both have met with AD Boo Corrigan, per OG Media’s Joe Giglio.

“The money/collective side has pushed hard for Will Wade,” Giglio wrote on social media. “That is their choice and have made it known to Boo.

“Boo has talked to Justin Gainey and that would be his choice.”

Wade, 42, is 243-104 in his career at McNeese, LSU, VCU and Chattanooga. He has led McNeese to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments after being fired by LSU in 2022 after the NCAA formally served a Notice of Allegations based on investigations into reports of recruiting violations.

Gainey, 47, has never been a head coach but has served as the associate head coach at Marquette and Tennessee.
