Wellhub is capitalizing on NYC’s massive commuter base and return-to-office momentum by adding Citi Bike access to its wellness platform
Wellhub is adding wheels to workplace wellness.
The corporate health platform has partnered with Lyft’s Citi Bike to give New York-area employees access to bike rides as part of their benefits, marking Wellhub’s first North American micromobility partnership.
Starting this week, participating employees can take up to four Citi Bike classic pedal rides per month through Wellhub’s Starter+ plan or higher. Once activated through their Wellhub account, users can unlock classic pedal bikes using the Citi Bike or Lyft app and ride anywhere within the system’s network across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Jersey City and Hoboken. E-bikes are not included in the benefit, though users can pay an additional fee to upgrade.
The move comes as companies look for new ways to drive employee engagement, retention and well-being, and as an increasing number of offices push toward a return-to-office model. An early summer pilot showed strong demand, with thousands of rides activated in just two weeks, according to Wellhub.

“Citi Bike has always been about giving New Yorkers the freedom to move affordably, reliably and sustainably,” Michael Brous, head of Lyft Urban Solutions, said. “Now, through our partnership with Wellhub, that movement becomes part of something bigger. Whether they’re heading to work, their next workout or just getting a little time outside, we’re proud to help New Yorkers make movement a more natural part of their day and expand how Wellhub members experience the city through Lyft’s mobility network.”
Wellhub, which works with more than 26,000 companies across 13 countries, says the addition of Citi Bike is part of its mission to build a “seamless wellness ecosystem.”
“Commuting is the new cardio,” Wellhub co-founder and CEO Cesar Carvalho said. “For New York employees, Wellhub’s partnership with Lyft’s Citi Bike system gives a new way to integrate wellness into their daily lives. We’re making it easier than ever to prioritize movement, underscoring our commitment to help companies empower their workforce and build a culture where well-being is at the center, not just an added perk.”
The Citi Bike launch is the latest move in Wellhub’s push to redefine corporate wellness. In the past year, the company has expanded aggressively across Europe, acquiring Rome-based Fitprime and Germany‑based Urban Sports Club. At the same time, Wellhub has been deepening its digital and mental health offerings by adding the Reebok Fitness app to its platform and expanding its partnership with Headspace to offer 1:1 mental health coaching via premium plans.
