All gas, no brakes: Urban Gym Group continues its acquisition spree with three new clubs and more growth planned for the second half of the year, as it actively seeks new opportunities, from greenfield sites to acquisitions
Urban Gym Group (UGG), the Dutch fitness and wellness operator behind edgy concepts like TrainMore and Gymbox, with a portfolio of more than 50 clubs and studios, is accelerating its expansion strategy with three new acquisitions in the Netherlands.
The group has acquired Health Club Jordaan in Amsterdam, which will be converted into a premium TrainMore Black Label location featuring wellness and recovery-focused amenities, as well as complimentary protein shakes, coffee and extended club access. UGG also snapped up two My Local Gym Group clubs in Leusden and Bilthoven, with plans to rebrand them under the TrainMore banner, where members earn €1 per workout with a cash-for-consistency model.

The deals follow UGG’s recent acquisition of Health Spa Fitness & Wellness in The Hague.
“We’ve had a strong start to the year and continue to identify high-potential locations,” UGG CEO Neil Randall said. “Our mission is to enable gym-goers of all levels to experience the unique benefits of the UGG brands.”
UGG hit a major milestone last month, opening two clubs in one week: its 10th Gymbox in London and 25th TrainMore in Amsterdam, a move Randall called significant. Additional club openings and acquisitions are planned for the second half of the year, UGG says. The company is encouraging gym owners, operators and landlords with suitable sites to get in touch.
“It reflects the strength of our growing team—combining the energy of young, ambitious talent we’ve supported through learning and development, with the expertise of seasoned professionals we’ve brought in from across the fitness industry,” he said. “As demand for TrainMore and Gymbox continues to grow, we remain focused on expanding into iconic locations in London and key cities across the Netherlands. We’re open to both greenfield opportunities and acquisitions, and we actively encourage property developers, landlords and gym owners to get in touch with us.”
