UFC 314 Main Event: Alexander Volkanovski Vs. Diego Lopes
MIAMI, FLORIDA – APRIL 11: (L-R) Opponents Alexander Volkanovski of Australia and Diego Lopes of … More
The winner of the UFC 314 main event will walk away from the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida with the UFC featherweight title over their shoulder.
In announcing Volkanovski vs. Lopes, UFC CEO Dana White said of the soon to be former UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria, “Topuria has felt like he’s done all he can in that division, and he feels like he’s cemented his legacy, and his body cannot make the weight anymore. So Topuria will be moving up to 155 pounds and will be vacating the featherweight title. … As soon as the first punch is thrown in (Volkanovski vs. Lopes), the title is vacated. We will announce what Topuria’s next fight will be when we get it done.”
Volkanovski (26-4) is a former UFC featherweight champion. He held the title from December 2019 through February 2024, defending the belt five times over that time. His reign began with a unanimous decision win over Max Holloway and ended in a knockout loss to Topuria in February 2024.
During his run with the 145-pound belt, Volkanovski twice fought for the UFC lightweight belt, losing to Islam Makhachev in February and October 2023. Makhachev won the first meeting by decision. He followed that with a knockout victory.
Volkanovski has not stepped into the Octagon since his loss to Topuria. He is the No. 1 fighter in the official UFC featherweight rankings.
Lopes (26-6) is the No. 3 fighter in the UFC’s 145-pound weight class. Lopes joined the UFC in May 2023, dropping his promotional debut to Movsar Evloev via decision. Since then, Lopes is unbeaten in five fights. His most recent victory was a UFC 306 decision win over two-time UFC title challenger Brian Ortega.

UFC 314 Co-Main Event: Michael Chandler Vs. Paddy Pimblett
MIAMI, FLORIDA – APRIL 10: (L-R) Michael Chandler and Paddy Pimblett of England face off during the … More
Michael Chandler (23-9) missed a lot of time over the past few years waiting for a bout opposite Conor McGregor to come together. With that fight looking less likely by the day, Chandler returned to the Octagon on November 2024 to face former UFC champion Charles Oliveira. It was Chandler’s first foray into the cage since a 2022 loss to Dustin Poirier. Oliveira downed Chandler via decision at UFC 309.
Chandler joined the UFC in 2021 after a long and successful tenure with Bellator. As a competitor for that promotion from 2010 through 2020, Chandler was a three-time lightweight champion. He defended the title twice during his first run with the belt and once during his second stint as champ. His third run as Bellator lightweight champ ended with a TKO loss to Patricio “Pitbull” Freire, who is making his UFC debut at UFC 314.
Chandler is 2-4 with the UFC, but outside his 2022 matchup against a fading Tony Ferguson, the 38-year-old has only faced the elite of the division. In addition to his bouts against Poirier and Oliveira, he has met Dan Hooker and Justin Gaethje inside the Octagon.
Chandler’s UFC wins came against Hooker (TKO) and Ferguson (knockout). The former Bellator champ is the No. 7 ranked competitor in the official UFC lightweight rankings.
Paddy Pimblett (22-3) is a former Cage Warriors lightweight champion. He has slowly been working his way up the UFC rankings since making his promotional debut in September 2021. Now 6-0 with the UFC, Pimblett looks to take a step up in competition against Chandler. Pimblett is coming off a UFC 304 “Performance of the Night” bonus-winning submission win over Bobby Green.
Pimblett had a successful run with the Cage Warriors promotion before he joined the UFC in 2021. During his time with Cage Warriors, which spanned 2013 through 2021, Pimblett won and defended the CW featherweight title and fought for that promotion’s lightweight crown.
Pimblett has been a fan favorite since he made his UFC debut and while some have been critical of the matchmaking the UFC have provided for Pimblett, something he addressed at the UFC 314 pre-fight press conference, Pimblett is in for a big test against Chandler.
UFC 314 Co-Main Event Odds And Predictions: Chandler Vs. Pimblett
UFC 314 Results
UFC 314 Results: Winners
Dominick Reyes: Dominick Reyes was on a four-fight losing skid, three by knockout, heading into his June 2024 fight against Dustin Jacoby. Reyes knocked out Jacoby. He followed that with a knockout of Anthony Smith in December 2024. On Saturday, Reyes made it three straight KO wins, starching Nikita Krylov in the first round with a perfectly timed counter left that caught Krylov leaning in with no defense on his mind.
MIAMI, FLORIDA – APRIL 12: (R-L) Dominick Reyes punches Nikita Krylov of Ukraine in a light … More
Dan Ige: Dan Ige defeated Sean Woodson with some help from the referee on Saturday. He fought a strong third round in a fight where he was losing to get the stoppage win when his opponent was covering up.
MIAMI, FLORIDA – APRIL 12: (L-R) Dan Ige punches Sean Woodson in a featherweight bout during the UFC … More
Virna Jandiroba: Virna Jandiroba’s route to victory on Saturday night was to exploit the takedown defense of Yan Xiaonan. She did that, racking up a huge amount of ground control to defeat the former title challenger. Jandiroba was ranked No. 3 in the strawweight division heading into UFC 314. With the win, she could take Xiaonan’s No. 1 ranking.
Jandiroba has won five in a row.
MIAMI, FLORIDA – APRIL 12: (R-L) Virna Jandiroba of Brazil works for a submission against Yan … More
Chase Hooper: Chase Hooper has been learning on the job under the UFC banner. Now 25 with 11 fights with the promotion to his name, Hooper looks ready to face ranked opposition. Hooper’s striking is no longer a deficit, while his grappling and ground control remain top-notch.
Hooper looked excellent against Jim Miller on Saturday, controlling the entire last 10 minutes of the fight with his ground skills while using his striking when needed.
Hooper’s win on Saturday might have been his most complete performance. He deserves a significant jump in competition.
MIAMI, FLORIDA – APRIL 12: (R-L) Chase Hooper punches Jim Miller in a lightweight bout during the … More
Julian Erosa: Julian Erosa picked up his third straight first-round stoppage on Saturday with a TKO win over Darren Elkins.
Erosa caught Elkins with a hard upkick early in the first stanza, which Elkins never recovered from. From then on, Erosa was composed and patient, looking for an opening to finish the fight, which he did at 4:15 of the first stanza.

Michel Oleksiejczuk: Michel Oleksiejczuk dominated Sedriques Dumas at UFC 314, dropping him early in the first round and then ringing up ground strikes that ended the fight at 2:49 of Round 1.

Sumudaerji: Sumudaerji did a decent job of using kicks to work on Mitch Raposo’s distance management. While not plentiful, those kicks seemed to carry the scorecards for Sumudaerji, as his striking was more effective than Raposo’s grappling.
Sumudaerji ended a three-fight losing skid with the win.
MIAMI, FLORIDA – APRIL 12: (R-L) Sumudaerji of China kicks Mitch Raposo in a flyweight bout during … More
Marco Tulio: Marco Tulio was a massive betting favorite over Tresean Gore on the UFC 314 prelims, and the 30-year-old Chute Box made a statement in Miami, putting a beating on Gore.
Tulio did a fantastic job on Saturday. While the UFC commentary team seemed worried about Tulio running out of gas because he was throwing everything with power, Tulio sustained his pace and power until he ended the fight in the second stanza.
Tulio’s striking was superb. He mixed up his targets and techniques, throwing to the head, body, and legs, and not allowing his opponent to get a read on what was coming his way. Tulio’s mix of jabs, hooks, elbows, and kicks was damaging and effective.
MIAMI, FLORIDA – APRIL 12: Marco Tulio of Brazil reacts after a TKO victory against Tresean Gore in … More
Nora Cornolle: Nora Cornolle moved to 3-1 in the UFC with a rear-naked choke submission win over Hailey Cowan. The problem for Cornolle is that two of her wins came in fights where she missed weight, including for UFC 314.
Cornolle, a striker by trade, did her best work in this fight on the mat, threatening with an armbar early in the first round and then securing the submission in the second.

UFC 314 Results: Losers
Nikita Krylov: Nikita Krylov was aggressive and a little reckless in the early going against Dominick Reyes, pushing forward with little regard for his defense. That lack of defense cost him the fight as Reyes perfectly timed a counter to drop him and finish him.
Sean Woodson: Sean Woodson is a hard puzzle to figure out because of his size for the weight division. Dan Ige and his team had some good ideas about how to deal with Woodson’s length, but Woodson did a good job of keeping Ige at a distance. Woodson might have won the fight if he kept that distance in the third round.
Yan Xiaonan: Yan Xiaonan entered UFC 314 as the No. 1 ranked fighter in the UFC strawweight division. A strong striker, Xiaonan’s takedown defense and ability to get off the mat are liabilities, which Virna Jandiroba exploited on Saturday night.
Jim Miller: The man with the most fights and wins in UFC history had a good first round against Chase Hooper, but Jim Miller could not hang with the grappling pressure of his younger opponent in the second and third stanzas of their UFC 314 lightweight scrap.
Darren Elkins: Darren Elkins is a tough guy who has taken a lot of damage during his UFC career, hence his nickname and tattoo on his chest. That damage is not without a cost, and the bill might be due for Elkins. He ate an upkick early in the going of his UFC 314 fight against Julian Erosa and never recovered from that strike, seeming to be off balance and unable to get his feet under him while he was fighting in slow motion before the fight ended with 45 seconds left in the first stanza.
Sedriques Dumas: Sedriques Dumas did not look interested in tangling with Michel Oleksiejczuk on Saturday night. Once he hit the mat, Dumas just covered up but did not do much to encourage the ref to allow the fight to go on.
Mitch Raposo: Mitch Raposo needed to negate an eight-inch reach disadvantage against Sumudaerji. He did so by landing takedowns. However, Sumudaerji refusing to accept the position hurt Raposo on the scorecards, as his grappling was not especially effective.
Tresean Gore: Tresean Gore did his best to stay in the fight against Marco Tulio, but the power, output, and mixed techniques were far too much for him to work through. Gore, who opened his UFC career 0-2, was on a two-fight winning streak, with both submission wins ahead of UFC 314.
Hailey Cowan: On Saturday, Hailey Cowan fought for the first time since a loss to Jamey-Lyn Horth in April 2023, a fight where she missed weight. Cowan fell to 0-2 with the promotion at UFC 314, falling to submission to Nora Cornolle.
Cowan had some success in top position on the mat in the first stanza, but Cornolle’s ability to control her opponent’s posture prevented her from doing much damage in that spot.

UFC 314 Pay-Per-View Card Odds And Predictions
UFC 314 Main Event
When the betting odds opened for this contest, Volkanovski was a -145 betting favorite over the +120 Lopes. Those odds have held and remain the same today. Lopes, despite his inexperience compared to Volkanovski, has 66 percent of the bets and 60 percent of the handle.
The betting pick is for the more experienced and poised Volkanovski to win the UFC featherweight crown via decision.
UFC 314 Co-Main Event
Pimblett opened as the -145 favorite over the +120 Chandler. Today, Pimblett is listed at -150, while Chandler comes in at +125. Most of the bets, 54 percent, are on Chandler, while 55 percent of the money is on Pimblett.
Pimblett has more ways to win this fight and he is the betting pick by decision. However, I wouldn’t hesitate in making a value bet on Chandler to win via knockout in the co-main event of UFC 314.
UFC 314: Rodriguez Vs. “Pitbull” Freire
MIAMI, FLORIDA – APRIL 11: (L-R) Opponents Yair Rodriguez of Mexico and Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire of … More
The odds on this contest have not changed since they opened. Rodriguez is the -200 favorite over the +165 Freire.
Freire has 58 percent of the bets, while Rodriguez has 61 percent of the money coming in on him.
Freire has the type of style that can break a fighter like Rodriguez, but the issue with that is this fight is a three-rounder, and I don’t think Freire will accomplish that goal in 15 minutes. If this bout were a five-rounder, I might have a different opinion. The betting pick is Rodriguez to win via decision, but there is value in picking Freire.
UFC 314: Mitchell Vs. Silva
MIAMI, FLORIDA – APRIL 11: (L-R) Opponents Bryce Mitchell and Jean Silva of Brazil face off during … More
Silva opened as a big -350 favorite over Mitchell, who opened at +260. Bettors have shifted that line. Today, Silva is -225, while Mitchell comes in at +185. Fifty-eight percent of the bets are on Silva to win, while 71 percent of the money is on a Mitchell upset.
The betting pick is Silva to win via knockout, but there is betting value in picking Mitchell to win via submission.
UFC 314: Krylov Vs. Reyes
MIAMI, FLORIDA – APRIL 11: (L-R) Opponents Nikita Krylov of Ukraine and Dominick Reyes face off … More
A light heavyweight matchup opens the UFC 314 PPV card. In that contest, Nikita Krylov opened as the -190 favorite over the +155 Dominick Reyes. Those odds have held as fight night approaches.
Reyes has more bets (64 percent) and money on him (52 percent) ahead of the PPV card.
The pick is for the fight to end via a knockout with Krylov getting the win.
