Trip Raises $40M Amid Functional Drink Craze

Trip, which made headlines for a recent partnership with mindfulness app Calm, makes adaptogen-infused sparkling beverages designed to help consumers unwind

At a time when stress is the new epidemic, Trip has bottled the antidote in a lightly sparkling beverage infused with adaptogens.

The calming beverage brand has secured $40 million in new funding from a mix of celebrity investors including Joe Jonas, Alessandra Ambrosio, Paul Wesley and Ashley Graham, alongside growth-stage consumer fund Coefficient Capital.

The raise pushes Trip’s valuation past $300 million.

The brand has made headlines for its first-of-its-kind partnership with mindfulness app Calm, with co-branded cans in both melon cucumber and blood orange flavors. The functional beverage company says it will scale the collaboration, which offers a free Calm membership with every can sold.

Each can of Trip is infused with adaptogens such as magnesium, lion’s mane extract, ashwagandha root extract and L-theanine and blended with botanicals like chamomile and ginseng to help consumers unwind. The drinks are non-alcoholic, have no added sugar and are third-party tested for quality.

“Calm was created to help people feel happier and healthier; Trip is all about finding calm in everyday chaos,” Calm founder Michael Acton Smith said. “It’s the perfect match. Together, we’re bringing mindful moments to millions — one can at a time.”

Trip is on track to deliver $100 million in annual revenue this year and expects to reach $200 million in 2026, according to the functional beverage brand, which has also generated roughly half a billion impressions across Instagram and TikTok in the last 12 months.

The funding comes as Gen Z and millennials are changing the definition of “going out for a drink,” swapping cocktails for functional fizz and prioritizing mood and recovery over hangovers. It’s a trend that’s likely to extend into the holidays, with recent data from NielsenIQ showing that 25% of U.S. households plan to cut back on alcohol as shoppers spend more on self-care while tightening overall budgets.

Its famous backers aren’t shy about their fandom, either.

“Trip is my everyday drink,” Ambrosio said. “I love the ingredients and how they make me feel calm, balanced and grounded.” Wesley called it part of his “daily routine,” while Graham praised its “exquisite flavor” and “elite ingredients.”

Beyond the buzz of celebrity investors, Trip’s rise marks a growing shift in the functional beverage world, where the goal isn’t more energy but ease. Founded in 2019 by Olivia Ferdi and her husband, Daniel Khoury, the brand began as a personal recovery story. When Khoury suffered a knee injury weeks before their wedding, the couple turned to adaptogens, natural botanicals that proponents say help the body manage stress and restore balance.

“We created Trip to make daily calm accessible to everyone, everywhere,” Ferdi said. “On a mission to create a billion moments of calm, Trip’s community is at the heart of the brand, driving growth and guiding its innovation.”

Trip has also expanded beyond beverages with the launch of its functional supplement line, which includes magnesium power, magnesium gummies, ashwagandha gummies and lion’s mane gummies.
