ROSA SNIJDERS

On Saturday, October 11, a crowd of students and onlookers gathered at the entrance of the H7 start-up incubator in Lyon, a townhouse facing the Rhône river. This was the site of the fourth edition of the Krypto Tour, an annual event aimed at young people seeking to train in blockchain financial technologies, with the goal of building a career in the sector.

Tickets sold out in a matter of weeks. Organizers expected more than 600 people, mostly students but also “many curious people, between 30 and 40 years old.” Attendees had the opportunity to take part in master classes, panel discussions and network with professionals from the crypto sector in a “chill and relaxed atmosphere.” The entry fee was the modest price of €15 for students, deliberately set to attract tomorrow’s young crypto entrepreneurs.

Raphaël Pautard, 22 and at the time taking a year out from his studies at IAE Lyon-III, led the conference, which he co-founded with entrepreneur Marvin Scaringella, a graduate of Kedge Business School in Marseille. “We literally tripled the budget, tripled the communication and tripled the work hours,” said Pautard, who lost count of his sleepless nights and hopes to make the event a must-attend for the next generation of crypto entrepreneurs.
