The fitness industry is moving smarter, faster and in a more precise manner — and Technogym is fueling its engines.
Technogym, a global leader in advanced fitness and wellness solutions, understands no consumer walks into their gym or studio with the same goals in mind. While there’s often a shared desire amongst visiting members to improve themselves and their health, that’s an umbrella with an extensive basin.
“We have people looking for fitness to get in shape or look better, people looking for sport performance and people looking for health and prevention programs,” said Enrico Manaresi, Global Head of Communication at Technogym. “Everyone has different goals, different aspirations and different needs.”
It’s an easy idea to grasp, but not always to execute around. For every brand out there offering personalized workout plans or detail-oriented progress tracking, there’s at least one other still filling its space with the same rudimentary equipment it had 20 years ago.
Technogym, however, keeps brands on the right side of that equation. By prioritizing precision with a platform of the same name and leveraging cutting-edge technology, Technogym gets down to the details, committing itself to every individual utilizing its equipment, rather than the other way around.
“Technogym wants to be precise and AI is a technology which helps us and operators to scale — because if you want to personalize the experience for thousands and thousands of members, you need a technology able to scale, make it personal and meaningful for the individual lifestyle of every single person,” Manaresi said.
Focused on You
Technogym’s Precision Training platform is the farthest thing from a cookie-cutter approach to health and wellness. Instead, it cuts straight through the margins to get right to the end user.
“Precision training is a training program that is precisely calibrated and designed for the single individual,” Manaresi explained. “The idea of the connected ecosystem through AI technology is to connect people to the training program anywhere and to craft a program, a journey, which is precisely calibrated to their needs, goals and aspirations.”

Doing so not only puts individuals in prime position to achieve their fitness goals, but also gyms to bolster their retention rates.
“This is, of course, fundamental to getting results and making them motivated to stay,” Manaresi added.
Standout Programs
Technogym Checkup represents the brand’s latest addition to its Precision Training platform. The AI-based assessment station tests a user’s six physical and cognitive parameters: VO2 max, muscle strength, balance, flexibility, body composition and cognitive function. The feature then creates a program based on that user’s test results and goals via AI in 15-20 minutes.
From there, users follow their customized workout plans with equally smart training features. One of which is Biostrength, which guides users to strength train with the right load, range of motion, correct posture, speed of execution and the ideal number of sets or repetitions to ensure optimal recovery rather than relying on them to guess for themselves. The system auto-adusts in real time as well to make safe and efficient progress attainable.
With the Precision Training platform also living on the Technogym app, it adapts to any gym environment carrying Technogym equipment. This flexibility puts fitness within reach no matter the setting.
“The programs pop up everywhere you go,” said Manaresi. “For example, if you are at home and you have no equipment, artificial intelligence will adapt it to your body weight. If you go to a hotel, which has a certain selection of equipment, it will adapt to that.”

Checkup also benefits operators, positioning themselves as homes for the personalized, modern fitness offerings consumers are looking for.
“And of course, the operator can use this data to optimize business by doing programs to attract new members,” Manaresi said. “This is a great opportunity for the operators to create a business model based precisely on the customer needs, preferences and goals. They can create different business models because it’s so versatile and creative.”
Growth Today and Tomorrow
Consumers and operators are already catching on as well. Manaresi reports that 70 million people are “more or less” currently training with Technogym around the world and 25 million are registered to the technology in 25,000 facilities.
He also pointed to the intersection of fitness and healthcare as a position for the tech to make an impact, once more highlighting its concentration on the individual.
“For those willing to bring medical protocols or programs into fitness clubs, this program is fundamental,” Manaresi said. “The data allows them to deliver training with precision, like a scientific dosage, which makes it effective.”
As large as these steps are for Technogym, the brand sees them as the first of many. Manaresi added that Technogym will continue to concentrate on personalization in the next 12-18 months. Like it already has with Checkup and other programs, it plans to leverage AI to complete this task.
He also noted the brand’s intent to widen its platform’s parameters to include other demographics engaging in fitness in different ways. Technogym views this as somewhat of a deviant approach but one still worth pursuing.
“In an industry which tends to be very vertical, Technogym wants to cover all the needs and have different verticals,” Manaresi said. “We’re horizontal because we want to cover different verticals in order to cover different population clusters.
“We want to help these people with a variety of different activities because it’s not just about going to the gym twice a week — it’s about participating in different activities and being a part of different communities,” he added.
