Sword Health Unveils AI Mental Health Platform After $40M Raise

The AI Care leader’s new solution, Mind, combines AI and licensed clinicians for 24/7, personalized support, marking a major shift in how mental health care is delivered worldwide

Sword Health, a pioneer in AI-driven care, has raised $40 million in new funding at a $4 billion valuation and launched Mind, an always-on mental health platform designed to radically rethink how mental wellness is delivered. The round was led by General Catalyst, with participation from Khosla Ventures, Comcast Ventures, and others.

Mind pairs Sword’s new AI therapist, Phoenix, with Ph.D.-level clinicians to offer continuous, contextual, and proactive care, rather than episodic talk therapy. A proprietary wearable, the M-band, tracks physiological and environmental cues to inform real-time interventions.

“Traditional therapy is broken,” said Virgilio Bento, CEO of Sword Health. “Mind uses AI and human expertise to offer the kind of dynamic, 24/7 support people actually need—because mental health doesn’t clock in and out.”

The announcement comes as mental health issues affect nearly 1 billion people globally, with widespread gaps in access and quality of care. Sword aims to fill that void by delivering scalable, outcomes-based solutions.
