SHA is boosting its luxury wellness and longevity program with the creation of its own Scientific Advisory Board of internationally recognized health experts.
The brand is known for its lavish hospitality destinations in Spain and Mexico, with plans to open a UAE location as well, which integrate longevity science, proactive medicine and regenerative therapies to promote long-term health. Now with five top experts on board, SHA is looking to cement its position as an authority on proactive and preventive health care.
“The field of longevity needs, more than ever, to cut through the noise and reinforce its scientific foundation, moving away from quick fixes,” said managing partner of SHA and AB Living Group, Alejandro Bataller. “The strengthening launch of our Scientific Advisory Board is a decisive step in consolidating SHA as the world’s most results-driven, science-backed and joyful method to achieve and maintain lasting health.”
The expert lineup will work alongside SHA’s medical team and oversee the science and evolution of its trademark methodology, which focuses on therapies and structured programs to address common health goals like reducing inflammation, improving sleep quality, weight loss and boosting energy and cognitive performance.
“The creation of this Board reinforces our credibility, strengthens our protocols, and supports our ambition to become the global reference institution for health optimization,” Bataller added. “Health is no longer a service category; it is the defining strategic asset of modern life.”
Board members will also help build out specialized units, including Proactive Diagnostics; Executive Health & Performance Optimization; Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Science; Cognitive Performance & Brain Stimulation; Women’s & Men’s Health; and Gut Health & Metabolic Optimization, as well as conducting future scientific studies.
Joining SHA’s initial board are:
Dr. Jessica Shepherd: Board-certified OB/GYN, and internationally recognized authority in women’s health and longevity, known for her integrative and evidence-based approach to hormonal health, sexual wellness and preventive care.
Dr. Darshan Shah: Board-certified surgeon, published author, and globally recognized leader in longevity and preventive health.
Professor Emiliano Santernicchi: Internationally renowned neuroscientist and faculty at Harvard Medical School specializing in cognitive neurology and research into brain stimulation, cognition and neuroplasticity. He also serves as Director of Precision Neuroscience at Massachusetts General Hospital
Christian Drapeau: Renowned stem cell scientist and expert in regenerative medicine, with over 30 years of experience in medical research, including two decades dedicated to stem cell science. He pioneered the understanding of stem cells as the body’s natural repair system.
Dr. Guillermo Torre-Amione: Cardiologist, immunology specialist and Rector of TecSalud, the health system of Tecnológico de Monterrey, one of Mexico and Latin America’s most prestigious academic and research institutions, as well as an internationally recognized leader in cardiovascular and transplant medicine.
“Longevity must fully integrate women’s health across every life stage. SHA is uniquely positioned to deliver the kind of sustainable, whole-body change that defines true optimization,” Dr. Shepherd said.
The Advisory Board plans to convene for annual summits at SHA properties to ensure that every program, protocol and future development is grounded in science, with innovation and continuous improvement at the forefront.
The formation of SHA’s board also coincides with a strategic academic partnership with TecSalud, establishing a third strategic pillar for the brand’s collaboration with leading academic and innovation institutions globally.
“Cardiovascular health, immune regulation, sleep, emotional balance and metabolic function are deeply interconnected. SHA’s integrated model reflects the future of preventive medicine,” Dr. Torre-Amione added.
The newly formed board aligns with a growing trend among wellness brands leaning into science to bolster credibility and authority over their methodologies. Several brands, including Next Health, Bon Charge, Therabody, SweatHouz and Ammortal, are bringing on established scientific experts to consult or oversee product development and research.
