Paris Saint-Germain could sign FC Barcelona star Dani Olmo on a free transfer according to SPORT, which cited an RMC Sport report – both of which used anonymous sources.

News of this development comes after a judge in Barcelona refused the registration of Barca stars Olmo and Pau Victor, as reported by SPORT and Mundo Deportivo,

Pau Victor and Olmo were Barca’s only two summer signings ahead of the current season and cost around $2.6 million (€2.5 million) and $62.5 million (€60 million) from Girona and RB Leipzig respectively.

The two attacking players could only be registered once a unique loophole opened up via long-term injuries to central defenders Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araujo was exploited by the Catalans, however, which means that Olmo didn’t debut until Matchday 3 against Rayo Vallecano.

This was only a temporary measure, however, which merely kicked the can down the road until December 31, which is a fast approaching deadline day.

In short, Pau Victor and Olmo need to be registered again in order to play the rest of the 2024/2025 season under head coach Hansi Flick.

And to this end, Judge Ignacio Fernandez de Senespleda, who is the head of Barcelona’s Commercial Court 10, refused to grant a precautionary measure to register the forwards on Friday, meaning that Barca must file a new lawsuit against La Liga on December 30 at the turn of the week.

Barca will file this lawsuit at “a Court of First Instance”, in order for the club to again try and obtain a positive precautionary measure in its favour which will allow Olmo and Pau Victor to continue featuring in Blaugrana.

SPORT writes that “the options of resolving this case favorably are shrinking”, though, and as is well known, Olmo has a clause in his contract which will allow him to leave his former boyhood club for free in the January transfer window if his situation isn’t resolved.

This is where PSG might come in, with RMC Sport‘s Gregory Paisley saying that Olmo “would fit” at the Parc des Princes and is “compatible” with his former Spain boss Luis Enrique.

SPORT explains that PSG hasn’t made any formal approach towards Olmo’s camp, but it is expected that it could if Olmo’s situation isn’t resolved in the next few days.

Losing Olmo to PSG would be the latest hammer blow dealt to Barca by the Ligue 1 giants, with Neymar, Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembele all switching to the French capital from its Catalan counterpart in recent years.
