Part hotel room, part high-end wellness showroom, Proper’s latest concept puts a new twist on wellness tourism
Proper Hotels, a luxury lifestyle hotel group, is launching fully shoppable, try-before-you-buy “Wellness Suites” at its Santa Monica Proper location with immersive, health-supporting rooms that double as fitness and wellness retail showrooms, offering guests exclusive partner pricing on products and equipment.
Both suites feature blackout curtains, Italian linens and hypoallergenic pillows, but differ in offerings based on whether guests choose Restorative or Performance.
The Restorative Wellness Rooms focus on deep rest and recovery, outfitted with tools such as Eight Sleep’s dual-zone smart mattress, PEMF, lymphatic stimulation and red light therapy via the Ammortal Chamber and advanced air and water purification technology from Jaspr Air Purifier and Filterbaby Pro Shower & Skincare Faucet Filters. Wellness accessories include Loftie’s sunrise alarm clock with guided meditations and ELVT’s mouth tape.
Performance Wellness Rooms are designed for movement-minded travelers and feature in-room Peloton Bikes, Theraguns, and functional fitness equipment, as well as VO₂ Max fitness assessments and dedicated space for stretching and yoga. Guests also have access to the Recovery Suite, which includes a sauna, cold plunge and red light therapy. Select packages include daily cold-pressed juice delivery.
The move comes as global wellness tourism is projected to surpass $1 trillion this year, driven by rising demand for immersive, health-focused travel experiences.
