The gym giant is investing in the next generation of changemakers, awarding scholarships to 50 high school seniors who embody its “Judgement Free” values
Planet Fitness is reinforcing its brand ethos of acceptance and inclusion with a new round of scholarships for students who champion kindness.
The gym giant awarded $250,000 in scholarships to 50 high school seniors through its Judgement Free Generation program, which recognizes teens who promote inclusion and compassion in their communities. Each recipient, selected from a national pool of applicants affiliated with Boys & Girls Clubs, received $5,000 toward furthering their education. Half of this year’s recipients are first-generation college students, according to Planet Fitness.
“Planet Fitness strives to provide an environment where everyone feels like they belong,” Planet Fitness chief corporate affairs officer McCall Gosselin said. “Our commitment to Boys & Girls Clubs of America and its youth is just one of the ways we focus on supporting younger generations, advancing their wellbeing and empowering them to promote kindness in their communities. We are proud to support these inspiring teens on their academic journeys as they continue to make a positive impact in the world.”
Launched in 2017, the Judgement Free Generation scholarship program has awarded more than $1.65 million to 330 teens. Applicants were evaluated through a multi-step process that included a personal essay, staff recommendations and a video submission.
“Each year, we are honored to collaborate with Planet Fitness to make these opportunities possible and to provide scholarships to well-deserving teens who positively contribute to their communities,” Boys & Girls Clubs of America president and CEO Jim Clark said. “We remain committed to empowering America’s leaders of tomorrow for years to come and are proud to work alongside Planet Fitness to offer generous scholarships that help teens take the next step in their journey of kindness and inclusion.”
