As Peloton pushes into holistic wellness, it’s teaming up with the nation’s top orthopedic hospital to launch expert-led content around joint and muscle pain, injuries and orthopedic conditions
Peloton is shifting gears with a unique new collaboration focused entirely on recovery and injury prevention, collaborating with the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS). The partnership will allow Peloton members to access exclusive, science-driven content and expert care for joint and muscle pain, injuries and orthopedic conditions.
The connected fitness brand will work with HSS, an academic medical center that focuses on musculoskeletal health, to create instructor-led classes and programs that help members prevent and recover from specific injuries.
“Prevention and recovery from injury are both critical and inevitable when you live an active life,” said Peloton CEO Peter Stern. “Through this unique relationship with the experts at HSS, we are deepening our commitment to our members’ long-term wellness and exploring a vital, often-overlooked, aspect of the fitness journey.”
Members will have access to new classes and programs developed for specific musculoskeletal focus areas through the Peloton app and across its devices, including:
Runner’s Knee with Kirsten Ferguson
Tennis Elbow with Katie Wang
Postpartum Movement with Robin Arzón
Bone Health with Joslyn Thompson Rule
Prevention Series: Desk Worker Strength & Mobility with Andy Speer
HSS — which is nationally ranked No. 1 in orthopedics — was not only involved in developing the suite of content, but is granting members access to an exclusive HSS Member Concierge, a service that facilitates access to orthopedic care specialists as part of the Peloton membership.
The service can be used for sports or orthopedic injuries, physical therapy or consultations with an orthopedic specialist or surgeon. Peloton members can also connect with experts at HSS locations in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Florida by calling (212) 606-1884.
Peloton has been increasingly redefining its role in the fitness and wellness industry post-pandemic through new partnerships and expansion tactics. In one of its most recent moves, the fitness company partnered with Twin Health to utilize its AI digital twin technology to cater specific workouts to users’ health profiles. And as part of its B2B strategy, Peloton joined forces with a mixed-use development in Utah to create a “Peloton-powered community,” where every residential building features Peloton-equipped spaces.
