As the number of personalized lab-testing platforms explodes, Joi + Blokes is taking things a step further, offering its members access to one-on-one sessions with licensed clinicians to go over test results
Telehealth company Joi + Blokes is bringing clinician-driven insights to the personalized lab testing space with the launch of its “Beyond the Labs” program.
Patients who use the platform can now receive personalized 30- to 60-minute consultations with licensed clinicians to go over lab results completed anywhere, emphasizing the importance of understanding what to do with key biomarker data.
“There’s an arms race in diagnostics right now; everyone’s focused on testing, tracking, and technology,” said Joi + Blokes CEO and co-founder Josh Whalen. “But what’s missing is the most crucial part: the human connection with a clinician. Data alone doesn’t heal anyone. Listening, empathy, and expert clinician guidance do.”
In all 50 states, users will have access to a Joi + Blokes clinician after uploading their data. Each consultation is built around their unique biomarkers, symptoms and goals.
“Most primary care visits are rushed, lasting under 15 minutes,” said Joi + Blokes medical director Dr. Melissa Loseke. “Ours are 30 to 60 minutes long, and unlike the exploding number of ‘lab-only’ services, you’ll actually see a clinician who listens and builds you a real plan.”
The 30-minute session (called “Advanced”) costs $150, while the 60-minute “Comprehensive” session costs $225.
New patients will receive 25% off their first visit, while those who want to understand the process ahead of time can have a free visit with a health coach to talk through their options.
“We live in a world of call centers and automations,” Whalen noted. “Sometimes just talking to someone, even for a few minutes, can make all the difference.”
Joi + Blokes’ new offering comes as the market for personalized biomarker testing booms.
Dr. Mark Hyman’s Function Health just raised $298 million at a $2.5 billion valuation, while telehealth giant Hims & Hers announced it too would be entering the personalized lab testing market with its “Labs” service.
