Eleiko Debuts Next-Gen Barbells With Sensor Integration

As weight training surges, Eleiko’s sensor-ready barbells signal how connected tech is moving from cardio into strength

Eleiko, the Swedish strength equipment maker and education provider, has introduced its next generation of barbells with integration capabilities for custom-made sensors, giving lifters and coaches data on performance and training.

The patented design extends across Eleiko’s portfolio, from multipurpose training bars to competition models certified by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) and World Para Powerlifting (WPPO), bringing sensor-ready options into both elite and commercial training environments.

Eleiko’s move comes as strength training continues to gain traction beyond competitive lifting. Commercial director Oskar Ragvald told Athletech News last year that the modality had “moved beyond athletes and bodybuilders,” with gyms facing pressure as members spend longer sessions in racks. Eleiko responded with its Prestera modular system and integrated storage, and sensor-ready barbells mark the next step in giving gyms an edge as strength continues to surge in popularity.

Beyond the new sensor integration, Eleiko added durability features such as its patent-pending Force Redistribution System to reduce stress during drops, a dual lock system with dustproof seals to protect sleeves, and a DN3 Chrome finish to maintain knurling sharpness. The bars carry a lifetime warranty and are manufactured in Halmstad using 97% recycled steel forged with fossil-free energy.

The fitness equipment company also introduced a color-coded identification system to make bar selection easier in gyms and training facilities.

“The next generation of Eleiko bars isn’t about doing something different or new; it’s about doing what we’ve always done, better,” Eleiko CEO Erik Blomberg said. “We obsess over the details, so lifters don’t have to. They lift — and feel the difference.”
