Bay Club Acquires 425 Fitness As Club Count Climbs

Bay Club’s latest deal adds to its growing portfolio as the company doubles down on high-end fitness, sports and lifestyle offerings

The Bay Club Company, an operator of active and social lifestyle clubs on the West Coast, has acquired 425 Fitness, a trio of fitness centers in the greater Seattle area offering everything from hot yoga and saltwater pools to recovery zones equipped with Theragun and HydroMassage.

Backed by private equity giant KKR, Bay Club is in aggressive expansion mode, aiming to operate at least 40 clubs and serve over 200,000 members by the end of the year. The company is actively pursuing additional acquisitions in major Mountain and Desert region cities as part of its national growth strategy.

The latest deal expands Bay Club’s Pacific Northwest footprint and formalizes a regional structure: the new Washington Campus will include PRO Club Bellevue, PRO Club Seattle, Harbor Square Athletic Club in Edmonds and the newly added 425 Fitness locations. The Oregon Campus, anchored by Bay Club Portland, will remain a key area for future development.

“Our expansion into Seattle’s Eastside suburbs is a natural evolution of our Campus strategy in the region,” Bay Club executive vice president of new business development Victor Woo said. “The 425 Fitness properties enhance our offerings with additional fitness amenities that complement the sports and outdoor recreation focus of our PRO Clubs and Harbor Square Athletic Club, creating a well-rounded Campus where people thrive through movement, connection and play.”

As Bay Club grows across its five geographic zones, Woo added that its vision remains consistent: to create connected ecosystems that elevate the way people live.

“Whether members are working out, spending time with family or building new friendships, Bay Club offers a place for all of it,” he said. “We look forward to building out our Campuses within all of our regions moving forward.”

Notably, Bay Club is positioning itself well beyond traditional fitness, aiming to appeal to consumers who spend time on the golf course, tennis court and ski slopes—activities that could influence the company’s future acquisitions.

“The same consumer who goes to a Bay Club location is the same consumer who has an Ikon Pass for winter sports, and sits in the lower bowl of sporting events,” Bay Club chief financial officer Richard Johnston told Athletech News earlier this spring. “When you think about the consumer as sitting within this experiential category across sports, outdoor recreation and active lifestyle, you can very much widen the aperture versus just thinking myopically about a club.”
