Forget charcuterie boards and sipping Pinot—Nike is redefining the ultimate girls’ weekend with its 2025 After Dark Tour, a global women’s race series featuring evening running events in six major cities.
The races—offering 10Ks and half marathons in Sydney, Shanghai, Seoul, Mumbai, Los Angeles, and Mexico City—include race-day preparation services, Nike product and style experiences, coaching guidance, recovery zones, and, of course, post-race celebrations.
“We’re creating a space where women runners feel welcome and empowered,” Global Women’s Running and Training VP Seema Simmons said. “The After Dark Tour is about more than crossing a finish line — it’s about joining a community that supports and uplifts you, no matter where you are in your running journey. We’re inviting all women to come as they are and discover the strength within themselves and the power of our collective energy.”
Nike’s 2025 After Dark Tour kicks off April 12 in Sydney and wraps June 21 in Mexico City. To prepare, runners can access official After Dark Tour training plans on the Nike Run Club app, as well as special instructions from Nike Run Coach Diljeet Taylor.
Nike had recently enhanced its app by adding features such as localized tips and the ability for runners to share their real-time location with friends and family.
“Getting athletes to the starting line knowing that their coach believes in them is the best race day preparation,” Taylor said. “I am so excited to be part of this journey where I have the opportunity to motivate and train an entire community of runners that maybe wouldn’t have sought out a goal like this, and I get to be someone who helps them set and chase that goal and cross the finish line. To me, that’s very humbling and fulfilling.”
While Nike’s upcoming running event supports the push for in-person experiences from fitness and wellness-related brands, it also allows women runners to lace up and enjoy an evening run without the safety concerns women commonly experience.
It’s one that running clubs aim to address, such as Saskatchewan’s She Runs at Night, a women’s running group meeting weekly at 6 p.m. for those who prefer to run in a group setting for safety reasons.
“I saw all these TikToks about how a lot of women felt unsafe running at night due to the sun starting to set earlier,” She Runs at Night founder Libby Michalski told CBC this month. “I was like, OK, I’m not the only one who feels this way.”
