Pakistan were asked to field in their tri-nation Twenty20 tournament clash after Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss at the Pindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

“We also wanted to bat first,” said Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha.

The hosts will be looking to make it two wins out of two, having beaten Zimbabwe by five wickets in the tri-nation series opener earlier this week.

Salman’s side meet Zimbabwe again in their second round-robin encounter on Sunday.

Sri Lanka, meanwhile, are smarting from a stunning loss to Zimbabwe in their first game of the tri-series.

Shanaka’s men were largely second-best against an inspired Zimbabwean side that romped to a 67-run victory on Thursday.

Pakistan were without pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi, who is currently under medical observation after sustaining a minor foot fascial injury.

Mohammad Wasim Jr replaced Shaheen in the playing XI for the match.

Teams:

Pakistan: Saim Ayub, Sahibzada Farhan, Babar Azam, Salman Ali Agha (captain), Usman Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Salman Mirza, Abrar Ahmed.

Sri Lanka: Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Kamil Mishara, Kusal Perera, Dasun Shanaka (captain), Janith Liyanage, Kamindu Mendis, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, Eshan Malinga.
