Oura Adds Long-Term Stress Tracking, Other Preventive Health Features

Fresh off an $11 billion valuation, Oura is rolling out updates including a “Cumulative Stress” measurement, along with a redesigned app interface

Oura is increasing its focus on preventive health with a series of updates rolling out across its platform this month, spanning new physiological metrics, app enhancements and a first-of-its-kind health report aimed at advancing the dialogue between wearables and clinical research.

One of the new features is Cumulative Stress, a long-term biomarker designed to show how the body accumulates and recovers from chronic stress over time. Oura’s model draws from the member’s past month of physiological data, updated weekly, to reveal a more objective measure of stress resilience.

The feature integrates five contributors: sleep continuity, heart stress response, sleep micromotions, temperature regulation and activity impact, providing members with a deeper view of how their lifestyle and recovery patterns influence long-term strain. A new Stress Management view now unifies Daytime Stress, Resilience and Cumulative Stress in one dashboard, offering a clearer picture of both short- and long-term stress trends. Cumulative Stress will be available globally in the coming weeks.

Oura is also taking a step towards clinical-grade monitoring with the launch of a Blood Pressure Profile Stud, part of the company’s effort to pursue FDA clearance for a future blood pressure feature. The study has received Institutional Review Boards approval. Participating members will receive a likelihood assessment of hypertension by combining Oura Ring data with a short questionnaire about family history, medications and lifestyle factors. Members flagged for potential hypertension are encouraged to follow up with a healthcare provider, while the algorithm continues to track changes over time. The study will launch later this year in the U.S.

Complementing these new metrics is a redesigned Oura App. The new interface introduces three main tabs: Today, Vitals and My Health, to guide members between immediate insights and long-term wellness trends. A new Habits and Routines section helps members see how daily behaviors connect to measurable outcomes.

The update also includes an enhanced Cycle Insights experience, expanding from a one-month to a twelve-month view. Using just a single night of sleep data, members can now receive personalized predictions about their cycle phase and fertile window, an improvement from the previous 60-night calibration period. The new app will begin rolling out globally in the coming weeks for Oura Ring Gen3 and Gen4 members.

The Finnish smart ring maker was just valued at $11 billion valuation following a $900 million funding round; the raise may underscore investor confidence in Oura’s evolution to a preventive health platform. Having sold more than 5.5 million rings and generated over $500 million in revenue in 2024, Oura projects that figure will surpass $1 billion this year as the smart ring market continues to surge.

Earlier this month, the company also debuted Oura Ring 4 Ceramic, a zirconia edition of the company’s flagship titanium smart ring that introduces a new material finish and expanded color range.
