In at least the third Planet Fitness franchisee expansion move in just the past week, Grand Fitness Partners expands its reach in California
Grand Fitness Partners has acquired 10 new Planet Fitness locations across California, expanding its reach to 90 clubs nationwide.
The new additions include two clubs in southern California (Ontario and San Bernardino) from franchisee Ontario Fitness, and eight clubs in the San Francisco Bay Area (Fremont, East Oakland, Oakland, Oakland MacArthur, Richmond, San Pablo, Vallejo and Walnut Creek) bought from the corporate club portfolio.

Grand Fitness Partners is one of the largest and fastest-growing Planet Fitness franchisees, backed by the California-based private equity firm HGGC.
Planet Fitness CEO Colleen Keating indicated that the deal is integral to corporate plans to shift attention away from the West Coast.
“Grand Fitness Partners has been a strong franchise partner, and its growth reflects the power of our brand and strength of our franchise system,” Keating said. “This transaction aligns with our commitment to recycling capital where appropriate and advancing our asset-light model and also allows us to focus our resources on our East Coast corporate-owned clubs.”
The expansion follows two other recent deals from Planet Fitness franchisees, Easy Mile Fitness and Ohana Growth Partners, which have each extended their footprints to 70 and 94 locations, respectively.
