ARMA brings elite training, design-led recovery and community to the Clapham district of London

London is now home to what is being billed as the world’s first luxury Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym, with the official opening of ARMA.

The club has been designed to merge high-level martial arts training with modern wellness and lifestyle amenities, an environment that is more than just a traditional martial arts academy.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, often described as “human chess” for its blend of strategy and technique, has grown rapidly over the past decade. ARMA aims to meet this demand by offering a broad range of programs for all ages and skill levels, from beginners to competitive athletes. Group classes, private instruction, strength and conditioning and children’s sessions are all offered at the club.

Head coach Ffion Davies, a multiple-time world champion widely regarded as one of the sport’s top athletes, leads the training program. She is joined by a team of instructors with extensive competitive and coaching experience.

The founders, Jake Willis and Louis Steyn, drew on their backgrounds in real estate, hospitality and entrepreneurship to create a facility that emphasizes both performance and recovery. Alongside its training mats and conditioning gym, ARMA features a dedicated recovery area with saunas from Black Elk and cold plunge baths. Members also have access to a café and co-working space, designed to integrate training, recovery and productivity.

“Our vision was to create a space where people of all backgrounds could access the best coaching and facilities, supported by a strong sense of community,” said Willis. Steyn added, “We wanted to be the first to create a space that trains the body, sharpens the mind and respects the craft in a premium setting.”

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has attracted a wide following outside of professional fighting circles, with figures such as Tom Hardy, Keanu Reeves and LeBron James taking up the practice. ARMA has already drawn early interest from London’s fitness community, including entrepreneur Spencer Matthews and trainer James Smith.

Memberships start from £230 per month and include unlimited classes, recovery access and use of the café and co-working areas.
