“Now or Never” brings both Bon Jovi and Pitbull back to Billboard’s Adult Pop Airplay chart as it … [+]
Several weeks ago, Bon Jovi dropped a new single alongside a musician that few fans of either act could have predicted would ever be associated with the New Jersey rockers. The band teamed up with rapper Pitbull for the tune “Now or Never,” which is credited to both stars. The uptempo song, which borrows heavily from the band’s own “It’s My Life,” has become a surprise hit on a number of charts across the world, and it reaches a new list this frame in the U.S.
“Now or Never” debuts on the Adult Pop Airplay tally this week. The Billboard chart ranks the most successful tunes being played on radio stations throughout the nation that focus on what’s known as “adult pop,” which is essentially a more mature subgenre of top 40 pop. The cut lands at No. 37 on the 40-space list, and it may only be getting started.
Pitbull and Bon Jovi have already turned “Now or Never” into a win on more than one of Billboard’s dance and electronic tallies, but this week marks the first time that the song has reached any of the more competitive pop rosters. The fact that it launches on a radio ranking also shows that not only are fans buying and streaming the cut on their own, but there’s institutional support behind the duet, as it’s not easy to score a radio win in America.
“Now or Never” marks Bon Jovi’s seventeenth placement on the Adult Pop Airplay chart. They’ve added to that sum three times in 2024 alone, which makes this year a big one for the band.
Pitbull reaches a notable milestone as “Now or Never” debuts. The Grammy winner has now collected 10 hits on the Adult Pop Airplay chart, and he’s spread those smashes out across a fairly long period of time.
“Now or Never” brings Pitbull back to the Adult Pop Airplay list for the first time in almost a decade. He last launched a song on the radio roster in 2015, when he and Ne-Yo pushed their catchy cut “Time of Our Lives” to No. 21.
As it kicks off its time on the Adult Pop Airplay ranking, “Now or Never” can also be found on one other Billboard chart. The tune falls seven spaces to settle at No. 30 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs roster, which is built using a methodology that combines sales, streams, and radio airplay. The track reached its No. 23 high last time around, and now that it’s receiving more love on the airwaves, the title could reverse course in the coming days.
