Global Wellness Day, a social movement backed by celebrities and governments, returns on June 14 with a rallying cry: wellness should be a human right, not a privilege.
Now in its 14th year, the non-profit initiative, founded by entrepreneur and wellness advocate Belgin Aksoy, will unite over 170 countries in a day of free, accessible events aimed at promoting physical and mental health. The global celebration is supported by an eclectic lineup of cultural figures, including Oprah Winfrey, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Venus Williams, Robbie Williams, Sir Rod Stewart and Sir Richard Branson.
“Wellness is not a luxury but the inherent right of every individual,” Aksoy said. “From small daily acts to large-scale events, Global Wellness Day breaks down barriers and makes wellbeing accessible to all. Together, we can democratize health and help humanity thrive.”
Activities range from digital detoxes and yoga sessions to community beach cleanups and mindfulness practices and are coordinated by a network of 120 ambassadors and thousands of volunteers. This year’s theme, #ReconnectMagenta, centers on five pillars: reconnecting with nature, self, family and friends, community and longevity. Participants are encouraged to join the conversation using #GlobalWellnessDay and #ReconnectMagenta on social media channels.
“Connection is the heartbeat of life,” Aksoy said. “In an increasingly fragmented, tech-saturated world, #ReconnectMagenta restores warmth and vibrancy—within ourselves and with the world around us.”
