With the venture officially underway — it’s actually already wrapped in its first city – fans have been treated to countless videos and photos from the shows, which showcased everything from her outfits to the dances to the songs she included, and, in one special instance, how this is a family affair.
The millions of clips that have been shared online have reminded listeners just how much they admire Beyoncé’s daring sonic shift. In the days after the superstar launched her the Cowboy Carter Tour in Los Angeles, interest in the full-length exploded. The project rises on the Billboard charts this week thanks to a massive uptick in streams — and one particularly sweet title is leading the way.
Beyoncé’s Duet With Her Daughter Rises
“Protector,” a cut from Cowboy Carter, stands out as listeners across the U.S. rush to listen to the Grammy-winning set again. Beyoncé recorded the track with her daughter Rumi, whose twin Sir – the two were born in summer 2017 – is not featured on the full-length.
Though never released as a single, “Protector” is the song that Beyoncé’s most devoted fans have been flocking to in the wake of the tour’s launch. According to Billboard, from the three days leading up to the start of the Cowboy Carter Tour to the three days following its first update, streams of “Protector” surged by more than 200%. Between April 29 and May 1, the collaboration, which features Rumi speaking at the beginning of the tune, was played 438,000 times, a huge sum for a non-single.
Beyoncé’s Dolly Parton Cover Grows
The music magazine also noted that several other Cowboy Carter tracks experienced similarly-impressive gains. “Ya Ya,” a Grammy-nominated tune, jumped 147%. Beyoncé’s rendition of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” increased by 118% in the same time frame.
Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Rises on the Billboard Charts
Streams of Cowboy Carter in full grew by more than five million between just before the tour kicked off and when it was underway, more than doubling during that brief time span. All those plays helped the full-length climb several Billboard rankings.
Cowboy Carter reenters the top 10 on the Top Americana/Folk Albums list, jumping from No. 15 to No. 8. At the same time, it ascends from No. 35 to No. 14 on the Top Country Albums ranking. The project enjoys the most dramatic leap on the Billboard 200, where it soars from No. 193 to No. 64.
