Faced with the circumstances of last summer, other teams would have crumbled. Liverpool, on the other hand, used it as a chance to grow further.

Across the pitch, Liverpool has the sort of squad depth that other clubs can only dream of. In midfield, Slot has several options to deploy in a variety of different ways depending on the situation. Harvey Elliott, for example, has made an impact off the bench in several matches this season. Curtis Jones has also been useful.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure at the end of the season would give Liverpool something to consider, but Conor Bradley is ready to step up as his long-term successor.
