Reprising their roles in the remake are Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, John Kani, and Beyoncé. New cast members include Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Tiffany Boone, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Lennie James, and Anika Noni Rose. Notably, Beyoncé’s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, will make her feature film debut as Kiara.
“What you’ll learn from the story is that Mufasa is who he is … because of the family and the friends that he has,” director Barry Jenkins teased at Disney’s D23 Expo in 2022. “And so I saw myself in that. I thought: ‘This is a really beautiful story to tell.’”
