Alyssa Chambers, founder and CEO of wellness brand Nova Essence, is facing higher supply costs in the wake of President Trump’s global tariff announcement.

Alyssa Chambers

Alyssa Chambers, founder and CEO of wellness brand Nova Essence IO, sources supplies for her business from China—and is facing an uncertain business future amid President Trump’s trade war. Chambers joined ForbesWomen editor Maggie McGrath to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing her business in this precarious economic moment.

Chambers said she’s facing the choice of either switching to an American manufacturer, which would cost more than four times what she pays her Chinese supplier, or staying with her current supplier, which will double in cost once the Trump tariffs take effect.

But, she says, “Right now I’m committed to not passing the cost on to consumers… it would have to be a very dire need for me to adjust my prices and impact the consumer.”

Chambers is turning to crowdfunding and partnerships with other small businesses to save some money and navigate the uncertainty of the moment. To hear our full conversation, click through here or watch the video player below.
