Bruce Springsteen fans are in for a real treat later this year. The rock legend has just announced a massive new project that dives deep into his archives, offering a rare glimpse into the sheer volume of music he’s created… and left unreleased.
Titled Tracks II: The Lost Albums, the box set, expected on June 27, is more than just a career retrospective. It’s a treasure trove of previously unfamiliar material that shows just how much of Springsteen’s creative output has remained hidden until now.
For decades, Springsteen has been known as a prolific songwriter and tireless recording artist. And while his studio albums and official releases have formed one of the most celebrated discographies in rock history, many have known that there’s a mountain of unreleased music sitting in the vaults. Now, much of that will finally see the light of day, and his followers will have much to enjoy while they wait for another proper album.
Bruce Springsteen’s Tracks II: The Lost Albums
Tracks II will feature seven complete, never-before-heard full-length albums. These projects weren’t just pieced together from scraps or leftovers. Many were recorded during sessions for other albums, and some even made it to the mixing stage before being shelved. In a statement, Springsteen revealed that he’s played these tracks for close friends over the years and often returns to them himself, but he’s never shared them publicly.
Seven Albums’ Worth of Unreleased Springsteen Songs
The seven albums included in Tracks II are titled L.A. Garage Sessions ‘83, Streets of Philadelphia Sessions, Faithless, Somewhere North of Nashville, Inyo, Twilight Hours, and Perfect World. Each album contains at least 10 tracks, with L.A. Garage Sessions 83 running the longest, with a hefty 18 songs. That alone is more music than most artists release in a decade.
Bruce Springsteen Fans Have Some Shopping to Do
When Tracks II drops, it’ll be available in multiple formats to suit every kind of listener. The full collection will be offered as a seven-CD box set, a nine-LP vinyl version, and, of course, a digital release. Fans who opt for the physical editions will be rewarded with more than just the music. Each individual album comes housed in special packaging, and the entire box set includes a 100-page book packed with liner notes, rare photos, and additional behind-the-scenes details.
For those who want a more digestible version — or who simply won’t want to splurge on the $350 full version – a condensed offering will also be released. Titled Lost and Found: Selections from The Lost Albums, the set will include 20 standout tracks from across the seven albums and will be available as a single CD or double LP.
A Follow-Up Nearly Three Decades in the Making
Tracks II is the long-awaited sequel to Tracks, a four-disc compilation that collected more than 50 unreleased cuts, demos, B-sides, and alternate versions. Released in 1998, that offering peaked at No. 27 on the Billboard 200, and is now set to be eclipsed by the even grander Tracks II.
