Sabrina Carpenter Matches One Of Taylor Swift’s Most Impressive Radio Feats

“Bed Chem” becomes Sabrina Carpenter’s latest radio hit, giving her four No. 1s from Short N’ … More Sweet—the first album to do so since Taylor Swift’s 1989. Sabrina Carpenter’s winning streak continues in America this week. The pop singer has been enjoying a period of near-constant success for nearly a year now, and as promotion for her latest album Short N’ Sweet rolls on, she reaches a special new high.

Carpenter collects another No. 1 hit on one of Billboard’s most competitive rankings, and in doing so, she achieves a feat that hasn’t been managed in nearly a decade.

“Bed Chem” Hits No. 1

This week, Carpenter’s single “Bed Chem” rises to the top spot on the Pop Airplay chart. That placement means it is now the most successful song across all top 40 radio stations throughout the U.S. The tune replaces Gracie Abrams’s “That’s So True,” which had been running the show for the past two frames.

Four No. 1s From Short N’ Sweet

“Bed Chem” isn’t Carpenter’s first major radio win. It’s actually her fourth ruler from her Grammy-winning album Short N’ Sweet. That many leaders from one collection is incredibly rare on the Pop Airplay chart, which is notoriously difficult to dominate. Only a handful of albums in history have produced at least four No. 1 hits on the tally, and none have done so in nearly 10 years.

Carpenter becomes the first musician to reach this milestone since Taylor Swift pulled it off with her juggernaut album 1989, according to Billboard. That project redefined what a pop record could be and turned Swift into a top 40 radio powerhouse.

Between 2014 and 2015, 1989 sent five singles to No. 1 on the Pop Airplay chart. That list includes “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space,” “Style,” “Bad Blood” with Kendrick Lamar, and “Wildest Dreams.” Since then, plenty of blockbuster albums have been released, and several have produced multiple hits, but none have matched the four-or-more mark on this particular list.

A String of No. 1s From Short N’ Sweet

Carpenter’s path to this milestone started last year when she dropped “Espresso,” the first single from Short N’ Sweet. That track not only conquered the Pop Airplay chart, it also went on to win her a Grammy. From there, she followed up with “Please Please Please” and “Taste,” both of which also rose to No. 1.

Five No. 1s and Counting

In total, Carpenter has now reached the top spot on the Pop Airplay chart five times in her career. All but one of those wins come from Short N’ Sweet.

Before this recent run, her only other No. 1 came in April 2024 with “Feather.” That single was featured on a previous set and served as her first taste of domination on top 40 radio, and it ruled the tally just before her official star-making era got underway.
