Italian-Made P448 Creates Its First Performance Shoe For Court Sports

Italian-made P448 launches the P448 Court for tennis, padel and pickleball.

It’s no surprise that tennis, padel and pickleball are having moments of popularity right now. Italian streetwear brand P448 decided that interest was reason enough to take its high-end Italian-made footwear brand worn by celebrities to the court for the brand’s first performance sneaker, the P448 Court.

“We have been obsessed with these sports for well over a year now seeing it become a trend,” Wayne Kulkin, P448 CEO, tells me. “Thus, it took that time and dedication to ultimately craft, create and perfect what we believe to be an amazing court shoe with our unique twist on flare for the marketplace.”

With comfort a key calling card of P448, Kulkin says merging performance needs with comfort was the key hurdle in the design process. To help, the brand uses a memory foam and perforated latex insole for a combination of comfort and breathability underfoot.

This is P448’s first entry into performance shoes.

P448

To make the shoe ready for the court, P448 created a foot cage out of CPU (a type of polyurethane) designed to support and lock in the foot when the shoe is laced up. “This support helps with lateral movements which are very common during racket sports,” Kulkin says. “This technology also helps to maintain the shoe’s lightness and breathability while still maintaining the right amount of structure.” The brand uses a durable ripstop nylon on the upper.

P448 teamed with Vibram, which Kulkin dubbed the “gold standard for performance outsoles” for the court-specific outsole. He says the outsole is designed to support quick movements while maintaining excellent grip with high abrasion resistance. Above the outsole, the Court model includes a low-density EVA midsole for cushioning on the forefoot and heel, all supported by a TPU arch technology. Of course, memory foam in the midsole is the unique comfort touch.

The P448 Court uses memory foam in the midsole for improved comfort.

P448

Kulkin believes the P448 Court offers a unique aesthetic in the tennis space. The brand was intent on “celebrating our Italian roots of a mix-and-match aesthetic, which is core to the brand’s DNA” while paying special attention to each component of the design in a model priced at $298. “This shoe can go from the courts to the club and look right at home in each environment,” he says.

The spring launch of the Court debut in four mixed colorations, an army green, sand and orange; a gunmetal, grey and blue; a black and purple; and a black, white and lime. The latter two have a graffiti-like pattern on the outsole meant to stand out.

The P448 Court launched in four colorways.

P448

The Court model is just the first move into performance sports for P448, Kulkin says. Expect more performance offerings from the brand for the fall 2025 season.

“At the end of the day, P448 is all about comfort to its customers,” Kulkin says. “Expanding into performance by taking our core fashion sneaker components molded with technological advancements for a better sneaker game felt like the next evolution of the brand.”
