US President Donald Trump urged the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates after the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) held them steady for a second consecutive meeting on Wednesday.

“The Fed would be MUCH better off CUTTING RATES as U.S. Tariffs start to transition (ease!) their way into the economy,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Do the right thing.”

Trump’s post came after FOMC Chair Jerome Powell announced yesterday that interest rates will remain at 4.25-4.5%, a decision widely expected by analysts.

The CME FedWatch tool had indicated a 99% probability that rates would stay unchanged.
