Earlier this year, Papa Roach released its new single “Even If It Kills Me,” beginning a new chapter. The tune seems to front a forthcoming album, though these are early days for this new era.
“Even If It Kills Me” has now spent several weeks on a number of Billboard charts. Its performance this time around is fairly mixed, though on one tally, it manages to climb to a special position, and in doing so, the cut helps the group rise on a historic ranking this week.
“Even If It Kills Me” Hits No. 1
“Even If It Kills Me” jumps from No. 2 to No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. It marks Papa Roach’s eleventh leader on Billboard’s ranking of the tracks that reach the largest audience across radio stations that focus on the harder side of rock, which is known in the industry, in some cases, as mainstream.
The Tenth-Most No. 1 Singles
With 11 champions now to the band’s credit, Papa Roach solely claims the tenth-most No. 1s of all time on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. Before this latest single soared to the summit, the band already held that position, though the group was not alone.
Papa Roach Breaks its Tie with Tom Petty
When Papa Roach only owned 10 No. 1s on the Mainstream Rock Airplay list, the band was matched with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Volbeat, and Seether for that honor. Now, those acts have been pushed down, while the “Even If It Kills Me” rockers ascend.
Shinedown Continues to Rule
The record for the most No. 1s in the history of the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart belongs to Shinedown. That group has thus far collected 20 rulers, and recently became the first to hit that landmark.
Papa Roach actually replaces Shinedown atop the Mainstream Rock Airplay tally this period. “Even If It Kills Me” swaps places with “Dance, Kid, Dance,” the most recent single from Shinedown, which now settles into second place.
With 18 No. 1s on the radio roster, Three Days Grace sits in second place on this all-time list. Five Finger Death Punch comes next, with 15 rulers. Disturbed and Linkin Park have thus far accrued a dozen rulers each, and Papa Roach currently lands one win behind both of those legendary rock outfits.
