The Weeknd’s The Highlights returns to the U.K. top 10, outperforming his latest album Hurry Up … [+]
The Weeknd’s latest album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, is just over a month old. At this point, the set has been present on the United Kingdom’s music charts for six weeks, and it’s been declining fairly rapidly recently as interest in that project seems to dwindle.
Fans in that country have instead returned to one of his most successful releases, as the Canadian musician’s career-defining hits remain hugely popular. Hurry Up Tomorrow does not rank as The Weeknd’s highest-rising album in the United Kingdom. At the moment, that honor goes to The Highlights, his greatest hits set that was released several years ago around the time he headlined the Super Bowl halftime show.
The Highlights Returns to the Top 10
This week, The Highlights returns to the top 10 on the Official Albums chart, the ranking of the most-consumed full-lengths in the U.K. The title lifts from No. 14 to No. 10, making its way back into the highest tier on the most competitive albums roster across the Atlantic.
Hurry Up Tomorrow Barely Holds on Inside the Top 40
By comparison, Hurry Up Tomorrow barely manages to hold on inside the top 40 in its sixth frame on the Official Albums chart. The Weeknd’s recent project dips from No. 33 to No. 39.
The Highlights on the U.K. Charts
The Highlights can only be found on two charts in the U.K. this frame, and it climbs on both. As it ascends into the top 10 once more on the Official Albums chart, it also rises from No. 7 to No. 6 on the Official Albums Streaming chart.
The Weeknd’s Legacy with his Greatest Hits
The Highlights has now spent 214 weeks on both of those lists, but it’s only conquered one previously. The singles-packed collection dominated the roster of the most-streamed full-lengths in the country, while it frustratingly peaked at No. 2 on the Official Albums chart.
Hurry Up Tomorrow Vs. The Highlights
Hurry Up Tomorrow may not be performing as well as The Highlights on either of the rankings on which the latter title appears, but The Weeknd’s most recent offering does land on many more rosters. Hurry Up Tomorrow currently appears on half a dozen charts in the U.K., and it falls on all but one of them.
After Hours is Still Going Strong
Just one more project by The Weeknd manages to find space on a single ranking at the moment. After Hours, which preceded Hurry Up Tomorrow by a few years, climbs ever so slightly on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart this time around, pushing two spaces to No. 30. Next week will mark its two-hundred-and-fiftieth on the list.
