Blackpink’s Lisa Makes History As She Reaches One Billboard Chart For The First Time

Lisa’s “Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me)” debuts at No. 29 on the Adult Contemporary chart, making her just … [+] the third K-pop soloist to land on the tally. When Lisa released her single “Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me),” it seemed like she was headed for another huge hit. The track follows a tried-and-true tactic often used for scoring a pop hit in America: sampling and/or interpolating a previous smash. That way, a current star relies heavily on a hook that’s already been shown to sell and stream well. “Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me)” turns Sixpence None the Richer’s “Kiss Me,” one of the biggest hits from the ’90s, into a dance-pop, disco-leaning tune.

Sadly, Americans didn’t fall in love with the single, taken from Lisa’s then-upcoming album Alter Ego, as it failed to reach the Hot 100. While Lisa has largely moved on from “Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me)” as she’s already pushed several more singles from Alter Ego, the poppy cut is still trying to find a space on the Billboard tallies. This frame, it debuts on one of the company’s radio rosters and, in doing so, helps the Thai artist make history.

Lisa’s New Radio Hit

“Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me)” opens at No. 29 on this week’s Adult Contemporary chart. The list ranks the songs that reach the largest audience on pop radio stations that focus on the slightly more mature side of pop.

“Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me)” marks Lisa’s first solo hit on the Adult Contemporary chart. As she arrives, she becomes just the third K-pop soloist — any musician working on their own who’s known primarily for creating K-pop — to land on the radio list.

Jung Kook’s Historic Debut

Jung Kook became the first K-pop solo act to hit the Adult Contemporary chart in September 2022. He joined Charlie Puth on the track “Left and Right,” which eventually soared to No. 24.

Lisa Joins Her Blackpink Bandmate Rosé

Lisa joins her Blackpink bandmate Rosé on the Adult Contemporary ranking. It’s rare for two soloists – or two K-pop acts of any kind – to sit near one another on this tally. Rosé’s “Apt.,” her collaboration with Bruno Mars, pushes one space to No. 18, establishing a new all-time high in the process.

Looking beyond just soloists in the K-pop space, two groups have also landed on the Adult Contemporary chart. BTS leads all acts with three hits, including the two that are tied as the highest-rising of all time. Both “Dynamite” and “My Universe,” the group’s collaboration with Coldplay, peaked at No. 16.

Fifty Fifty, a beloved K-pop girl group, also made history when “Cupid” appeared on the Adult Contemporary chart. The poppy cut rose to No. 20 and spent 13 frames on the list, the second-longest stay of all time among South Korean stars.
