Bon Jovi’s Slippery When Wet re-enters the Billboard charts, hitting No. 16 on Top Hard Rock Albums … [+]
Bon Jovi took over the planet decades ago with the album Slippery When Wet, the third full-length from the rock band. The set produced some of the group’s most familiar smashes, including “You Give Love a Bad Name” and “Livin’ on a Prayer,” among several other big wins.
The album is a hit once again in the United States, and it’s actually bigger than it has ever been on one list. Slippery When Wet appears on two Billboard charts this week in America, returning to both rankings after being absent from these two rosters — or seemingly any tally published by the company — for some time.
Bon Jovi Lands Highest on the Hard Rock Chart
Bon Jovi’s classic sits highest at the moment on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart, reentering at No. 16 on that list. It’s currently not far from to its all-time peak of No. 12. While Slippery When Wet doesn’t establish a new high point on the Top Hard Rock Albums list — Billboard’s ranking of the most-consumed hard rock full-lengths and EPs in the U.S. — it does manage to climb higher than ever on the Top Album Sales chart.
Slippery When Wet Reaches a New Peak
This time around, Slippery When Wet comes in at No. 45 on the 50-spot roster of the bestselling collections in the U.S. That now stands as the loftiest spot that Slippery When Wet has ever reached on that important roster.
Luminate reports that in the past tracking frame, Slippery When Wet sold a little less than 2,300 copies in the United States, which is a huge figure for a decades-old offering. This helps increase the title’s overall pure sales sum, which is now beyond 3.2 million in the United States alone.
Bon Jovi’s History on the Sales Chart
Throughout the band’s history, Bon Jovi has pushed 20 different projects onto the Top Album Sales chart. The roundup includes proper studio full-lengths, live recordings, and greatest hits compilations.
Among those 20 appearances on the Top Album Sales ranking, 14 of Bon Jovi’s titles have cracked the top 10, and five of them have reached No. 1. Lost Highway, The Circle, What About Now, This House Is Not for Sale, and most recently in 2024, Forever all spent time running the show.
Slippery When Wet is a bestseller again after Bon Jovi released a special edition of the album on vinyl. The wax record actually included water within it, which added to its luster and surely convinced some longtime fans to purchase another copy.
