Photos: Celebrity Arrivals At ‘SNL 50: The Anniversary Special’

Several major stars including Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Jenna Ortega, Kim Kardashian, Scarlett Johansson and Jason Momoa joined many former cast members on the red carpet Sunday night for the SNL 50: The Anniversary Special celebrating Saturday Night Live.

SNL 5o: The Anniversary Special was broadcast and streamed live on NBC-TV and Peacock. Officially, Saturday Night Live will turn 50 in October. Produced by Lorne Michaels, the first broadcast of SNL happened on Oct. 11, 1975.

The SNL 5o: The Anniversary Special follows the Saturday Night Live musical event SNL 50: The Homecoming Concert, which streamed live on Peacock on Friday. Additionally, Peacock produced the streaming docuseries SNL 50: Beyond Saturday Night and three-hour documentary Ladies & Gentlemen … 50 Years of SNL Music.

Below are photos from the red carpet outside of the event at Studio 8H in Rockefeller Center in New York City on Sunday.

Former SNL star Eddie Murphy walked the red carpet at the SNL 50th anniversary celebration. Murphy was an SNL cast member from 1980-1984.

Previous SNL guest host Jenna Ortega attended the event. Ortega as also at the SNL 50: The Homecoming Concert on Friday night.

Kristen Wiig was also at the event. Wiig was an SNL cast member from 2005-2019.

SNL alum Maya Rudolph walked the red carpet at the celebration. Rudolph was an SNL cast member from 2000-2007 and has since returned in guest roles on the show.

Tracy Morgan waved to the crowd while walking the SNL 50th anniversary red carpet. Morgan was a cast member on SNL from 1996-2003.

Former SNL cast member Pete Davidson appeared at the event. Davidson was an SNL cast member from 2014-2022.

Former SNL cast members Billy Crystal and Chris Rock were among the former stars of the legendary sketch show to attend the 50th anniversary celebration.

Crystal was an SNL cast member for one season, from 1984-1985, while Rock was a cast member from 1990-1993.

Former SNL cast member Will Ferrell and current SNL writers-performers Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy (collectively known as the comedy group Please Don’t Destroy) assembled for a photo on the red carpet.

Ferrell was an SNL cast member from 1995-2002 and has since returned to host the show. The members of Please Don’t Destory have been writing for SNL as well as producing and appearing in digital shorts since 2021.

Previous SNL guest host Ayo Edebiri gathered with current and former SNL cast members Kenan Thompson, Marcello Hernández, Jay Pharoah, Martin Short and Ego Nwodim at the event.

Thompson has been an SNL cast member since 2003, while Hernández joined the show in 2022. Pharoah was an SNL cast member from 2010-2016, Short was a cast member from 1984-85 and Nwodim joined the show in 2018.

Frequent SNL guest star Alec Baldwin joined fellow former SNL host Catherine O’Hara for a photo at the event.

Former SNL guest hosts Lin-Manuel Miranda and Paul Rudd appeared together on the SNL 5o: The Anniversary Special red carpet.

Former SNL cast member Adam Sandler appeared at the 50th anniversary celebration with his wife and fellow actor Jackie Sandler, actor Laura Dern, musican Eddie Vedder. and his wife Jill Vedder.

Sandler was an SNL writer in 1991 and transitioned to a featured player and eventually a full-time cast member from 1991-1995.

Actors Adria Arjona and Jason Momoa walked the red carpet at the SNL 50: The Anniversary Special.

Former SNL cast member Fred Armisen and actor Ricki Lindhome walked the SNL 50th anniversary celebration red carpet. Armisen was an SNL cast member from 2002-2013.

Original SNL cast member Chevy Chase attended the event. Chase appeared on the first episode of SNL on Oct. 11, 1975, and left the show after one season.

Pedro Pascal appeared on the red carpet for the SNL 50: The Anniversary Special. Pascal has previously appeared on SNL as a guest host.

Original SNL cast member Garrett Morris appeared on the SNL 50: The Anniversary Special red carpet. Morris appeared on the first episode of the show on Oct. 11, 1975, and remained with SNL until 1980.

Former talk show host David Letterman and his longtime bandleader Paul Shaffer attended the SNL event. Shaffer was also a member of the original SNL band from 1975-1980.

Patti Hansen, Keith Richards, Jimmy Fallon and Nancy Juvonen gathered for a photo at the event. Fallon was a cast member on SNL from 1998-2004 and Richards appeared as a musical guest on the show as part of the Rolling Stones.

Hansen has been married to Richards since 1983 and Fallon and Juvonen—who produces films with actor-filmmaker Drew Barrymore—have been married since 2007.

Former and current SNL cast members—Tracy Morgan, Aidy Bryant, Chloe Fineman, Kristen Wiig, Jane Curtin, Chris Kattan, Horatio Sanz and Fred Armisen— assembled for a photo on the SNL 50th anniversary celebration red carpet.

Curtin, of course, was an original SNL cast member and remained with the show until 1980.

Actor Steve Buscemi and former SNL cast members Martin Short, Chris Kattan, Chevy Chase, Tracy Morgan and Horatio Sanz gathered for a photo on the red carpet.

Kattan was an SNL cast member from 1996-2003, while Sanz was a cast member from 1998-2006.

Previous SNL guest host Kim Kardashian walked the SNL 50: The Anniversary Special red carpet.

Former SNL head writer and cast member Tina Fey was on the red carpet. Fey was on SNL from 2000-2006.

Previous SNL musical guest Lady Gaga also appeared at the SNL 50th anniversary event.

Former SNL stars Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph Jane Curtin, Laraine Newman and Rachel Dratch gathered for a photo at the 50th anniversary event.

Like Curtin, Newman was an original SNL cast member in 1975 and remained on the show until 1980. Dratch was an SNL cast member from 1999-2006.

Will Ferrell joined former SNL writer Harper Steele on the SNL 50th anniversary special red carpet. Steele was a writer on SNL from 1995-2008, and for the last four years of her run on the show she was its head writer.

Previous SNL guest host Keke Palmer also appeared on the red carpet at the SNL 50 event.

Previous SNL musical guest Cher appeared at the 50th anniversary event, two nights after she performed at SNL 50: The Homecoming Concert.

Actor-filmmakers Drew Barrymore, Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor attended the event. Stiller briefly appeared as an SNL cast member in 1989.

Previous SNL guest host Quinta Brunson joined former SNL cast members Casey Wilson, Abby Elliott and Darrell Hammond for a photo at the event. Wilson was an SNL cast member from 2008-2009 and Elliott was on the show from 2008-2012.

Hammond was an SNL cast member from 1995-2009 and has been the show’s announcer since 2014, replacing the show’s longtime voice Don Pardo.

Current SNL cast member Colin Jost and his wife—actor and previous SNL guest host Scarlett Johansson—attended the event. Jost has been a writer for SNL since 2005 and began co-anchoring Weekend Update with Michael Che in 2014.

Actors Seth Rogen and Emma Stone clowned around at the SNL 50 event. Both Rogen and Stone previously hosted SNL.

Kate Capshaw and her husband, director Steven Spielberg, attended the event. Spielberg played himself in the SNL digital short Laser Cats.

Former SNL cast member Amy Poehler was on the red carpet for the 50th anniversary event. Poehler was an SNL cast member from 2001-2008.

Woody Harrelson joined fellow former SNL host Ryan Reynolds for a photo on the SNL 50 red carpet.
