Indian star Allu Arjun’s new film Pushpa 2 The Rule has made it to the global list of most-watched non-English films on Netflix for the second consecutive week. It has made it to the third slot on Netflix’s weekly list of most-watched films. It is the only Indian content to rank on the lists of most watched films and shows for the week ending February 9.
Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2 The Rule features Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles. Almost two months after it hit theatres, Pushpa 2 The Rule landed online on Netflix on January 30.
Pushpa 2 The Rule Among Netflix’s most-watched films worldwide for the second consecutive week
Pushpa 2 The Rule recorded 13.6 million watch hours and 3.6 million views in its second week. This week, it slid down one slot from last week’s ranking on Netflix’s weekly list of most-watched non-English movies.
Last week, the film ranked second on Netflix’s global list of most watched non-English films on the platform. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film climbed the global list in just four days on the platform to become the second most-watched non-English film on Netflix for the week ending February 2. It also topped the most-watched lists in seven countries while making it to the top 10 in 15 countries in its debut week. Pushpa 2 The Rule registered 5.8 million views and 21.8 million watch-hours on Netflix in the first week of the digital premiere.
Pushpa 2 The Rule
Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2 The Rule released in theatres on December 5. It stars Fahad Faasil in a major role along with Dhananjaya, Jagapathi Babu, Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, Anasuya Bharadwaj, and Rao Ramesh in important roles. The energetic music has been composed by popular musician Devi Sri Prasad while Mirosław Kuba Brożek handled the cinematography.
After more than month of record-breaking box office run, the producers announced fan bonanza, deciding to re-release the film with additional twenty minutes of footage. Titled Pushpa 2 The Rule Reloaded Version, the extended version was set for January 14 release in Telugu and Hindi language. It was pushed by a few days and hit theatres on January 17. The extended version is available on Netflix with a total runtime of three hours and 44 minutes.

The Pushpa storm began in 2021 when Allu Arjun appeared on the big screen as Pushpa Raj, a dreaded sandalwood smuggler in Sukumar’s Pushpa The Rise. Arjun essayed a man with troubled childhood who turns his limitations into his strength, becoming the dreaded leader of the very group that exploited him. The film broke box office records beyond language barriers, especially in the Hindi belt, apart from the original language belt.
With the second film setting yet another benchmark for the box office, the bar has been raised higher. Pushpa 2 The Rule ended with a teaser for the third fan and gave a sneak peek for fans to anticipate the sequence of events for the third part of the franchise – Pushpa 3: The Rampage.
Pushpa 2 The Rule: Indian Box office records
Pushpa 2 The Rule rode on high expectations not just from the producers but even trade experts hoped for a huge opening. Living up to the expectations, the film made more than $10 million in advance ticket sales alone. It released on December 5, 2024, in original Telugu as well as Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
After making a record opening of $19.5 million in India alone, Pushpa 2 The Rule went ahead to score $50 million in two days and crossed the $150 million mark in mere ten days. The film’s opening also registered biggest opening scores for lead stars Rashmika Mandanna and Allu Arjun, along with director Sukumar. Pushpa 2 The Rule has crossed $210 million worldwide.
In its debut weekend, Pushpa 2: The Rule made it to the top five highest-scoring movies worldwide on Comscore for the week ending December 8. The film also stayed on the same spot in its second weekend.
