V has differentiated his solo work from the rest of his BTS bandmates by focusing on seasonal tunes. He doesn’t only work in the holiday sphere, but fans have come to expect him to drop new music at the end of every year, and he gave them more than usual in 2024.
The South Korean superstar delivered a pair of singles this December, and his massive following ate them up. Both “Winter Ahead” and his updated take on “White Christmas” are not only still charting this week in the United Kingdom, they also manage to reappear inside the top 40 on at least one list apiece, becoming sales smashes once more.
Between his two current wins, “White Christmas” is the bigger hit, which isn’t shocking. The tune is by far the more famous of the pair, and it also features Bing Crosby, who made the composition famous decades ago.
“White Christmas” appears on four charts in the U.K. at the moment. It returns to the Official Singles Downloads ranking at No. 35, and it performs even better on a number of other lists.
V’s collaboration with Crosby is steady at No. 15 on the Official Physical Singles chart, which ranks only the bestselling tracks sold on any format that people can actually hold, such as CD or vinyl. That matches the tune’s all-time peak—right where it debuted last week.
The duet also falls on two other tallies as it returns to the downloads list. “White Christmas” slips three spaces to No. 13 on the Official Vinyl Singles chart this frame. It tumbles much further on the Official Singles Sales ranking, declining from No. 47 to No. 91.
While “White Christmas” can be found on multiple rosters in the U.K. at the moment, V’s other 2024 seasonal release isn’t performing quite as well—though it’s still a top 40 win. “Winter Ahead,” which also happens to be a collaboration, as fellow South Korean musician Park Hyo Shin is credited alongside the BTS star, is back on just one list. The track blasts back onto the Official Singles Sales roster at No. 40, narrowly managing to become a proper smash once more.
