2Pac has been on a posthumous roll lately thanks to a viral craze, one which is based around one of his most famous tunes. Millions of people have interacted with the rapper’s song, some for the first time. All the attention that his smash “How Do U Want It” has accrued over the past several weeks has helped the hip-hop star return to a number of charts, and his resurgence isn’t finished yet.
“How Do U Want It” breaks into the top 10 on a pair of Billboard charts this frame. The single debuts inside that region on one list, while simultaneously rising into the loftiest space on another ranking after landing on that tally for the first time just days ago.
2Pac’s smash lands highest between the two Billboard lists it appears on at the moment on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart. On that tally, the tune launches at No. 8, instantly becoming yet another top 10 win for the gone-too-soon musician.
“How Do U Want It,” which credits the R&B duo K-Ci and JoJo, who were popular at the time the track was new, also climbs into the top 10 on another, closely related ranking. 2Pac and his collaborators jump from No. 14 to No. 10 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart, entering that coveted space for the first time.
2Pac earns only his second career top 10 smash on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales ranking this frame, doubling his total number of placements between Nos. 1 and 10 on the purchase-focused roster. He’s now collected a trio of wins inside that tier on the rap-only list.
Earlier this month, “How Do U Want It” brought both musicians to the TikTok Billboard Top 50 for the first time. The tune began picking up steam on the social media app, and it didn’t take long before the track began appearing on Billboard charts. Since then, its popularity has only continued to spread, and it’s seemingly getting bigger and bigger, even as it fades on TikTok.
“How Do U Want It” was first released in 1995 on 2Pac’s album All Eyez On Me. The track was originally shared as a double A-side single along with the even more famous “California Love,” which remains the rapper’s most memorable smash. It rose in prominence thanks to the lead cut, and then it became a Hot 100 chart-topper as well.
